(upbeat music) - Well, if you've ever seen a dog or a cat in a crowded shelter, you know how that image can really hit your heart.

The folks at Nuzzles and Co.

have a goal of saving those pets and helping them find second chances in healthy homes.

Beth Lopez joins us now with Jake Sully to share more details.

Welcome.

- Thank you, we're very excited to be here and Jake's having the time of his life.

- Yes, he really is.

And you told me he's just a few weeks old, right?

- Yeah, he's seven weeks.

He is a rescue from the Ute Reservation here in Utah.

- [Liz] He's super cute.

Tell me how Nuzzles and Co.

is redefining the rescue experience.

- Yeah, absolutely.

So, you know, rescue is one of the most joyful, happy things you can do.

It's bringing an animal into your home and into your family that you'll just love forever and experience their boundless love.

And we like to make it a really fun, happy experience.

It's bright, it's colorful, we're a no kill shelter, and we're actually spreading hope by rescuing from euthanasia shelters.

Not every dog and cat in Utah has a chance that they need.

Some of the shelters are overcrowded, but that's why we step in.

And we make it just such a joyful experience to add to your family and, you know, bring all sizes of joy into your life.

- And I hear so far that you've helped bring thousands of, you know, pets into healthier situations and conditions.

- Yeah, in our three decades, we have saved about 32,000 animals from euthanasia lists, so including Mr.

Jake.

So now he's got a chance at life.

- And he's so cute and energetic, but as you said, it's all kinds of different animals, not just dogs, right?

- Yeah, it's dogs, it's cats, it's seniors, it's babies.

It's animals of every age, every size, every temperament.

And I think that's one thing people don't realize about rescue is you actually do know what you're getting because the staff get to know every animal.

And if you want a wild little wiggly baby like this, then we've got him.

But you can also get a mellow senior or adult.

So whatever is right for you.
