Lauren Posey is joined by Lucy to share how the organization provides a variety of resources for dogs and families.
Welcome to the show.
- Thank you.
- So tell me a little bit about Lucy.
- She is about six months old and she has just been spayed.
She's all up-to-date on her vaccination.
She's the sweetest little girl.
She loves a stuffed animal.
She's learning her manners.
She's learning leash training and she loves her foster siblings right now.
And she's just a sweet girl who is starting to experience life.
She ended up in a shelter when she was about three or four months old and since we took her in around then and she's just been opening up a lot.
We had her sister whose name was Ethel.
We had Lucy and Ethel.
- Yeah.
(laughs happily) - Yeah, thank you.
(both laughs happily) - I love it.
- And Ethel has since found a home, but we're still looking for Lucy's forever family.
So she's dog-friendly, would get along well with kids.
She hasn't been cat-tested yet, but she's been a good girl so far.
- What should people know about fostering or adopting a pet from your organization?
- So since we typically deal with huskies and northern breeds, they tend to come with more energy, right?
And as long as you channel that energy and you give them outlets for it, they are some of the most loyal and dependable dogs you could ever create relationships with.
That's why we're so passionate about it.
So with a dog like Lucy.
Yeah, she's a good girl.
(laughs happily) Thank you.
With a dog like Lucy, enrichment, making sure that she has activities, not just exercise, not just three or three to five miles a day, but enrichment, making sure she has toys to play with, making sure she has other dogs to play with and continue.
They continue growing, you know, until they're about a year and a half or two years old and before they hit the adult stage, so.
- And there are other ways that people can also get involved as well.
You guys have fundraisers throughout the year?
- Yeah.
So in April, we have our annual Husky Hustle.
It was a very good name.
Where we do a fundraiser 5K where all the proceeds from that directly benefit our dogs, medical costs, transport costs, anything along those lines.
So it's April 10th coming up in 2027 at Wheeler Farm.
And if you go to our website, you can already sign up for it.
- All right.
Thank you so much for being here.
