Our guest today, Susan Klinker, will tell us more.
Hi, Susan.
Thank you so much for being here.
- Thank you for having me.
- So, tell me about the nativity scenes.
They come from all over.
- They come from all over the world.
It's a collection that we've been growing for 20 years, more than 20 years.
They've all been donated to the center, and we have pieces from Africa, from Bangladesh, from El Salvador.
One of my favorite ones is from El Salvador, and it's made with rolled paper, rolled newspaper, so they're all really interesting.
- Oh, wow, wow.
Okay, but one of the very interesting ones that's new this year.
- Yes.
We are very excited to showcase our brand-new collection that was created by Pilar Pobil.
She's a very dear artist in our community, and sadly, she passed away just about a month ago.
So the Utah Museum of Fine Arts had this very large nativity scene in their collection, and earlier this year, our main gallery was renamed as the Pilar Pobil Celebration Gallery in Pilar's honor, and so we were very excited to be gifted this large nativity scene this year, and we get to display it in Pilar's honor.
- Wonderful, and all her wonderful sculptures.
- Yes, yeah.
So the collection is over 22 pieces, and they're large, so it is not a tabletop display.
(laughs) - All right.
- And it's a total of about 39 figures all together, including the animals.
Everyone should come see it.
- All right.
Well, thank you for being here.
They'll also get to see the trees, but thank you so much for being here.
- Okay, great.
Thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about everything at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center on "Nativities from Around the World," it's now through December 31st.
