(upbeat music) - The Watch Party is a free community watch-along featuring winter sports competitions on outdoor screens hosted by the Salt Lake City Mayor's Office.
To share more about what you can expect, we're joined by Michael Jaquet, welcome.
- Thank you.
Thanks for having me.
- Tell me about this watch party, what's in store for folks?
- We're really excited about it this year, and the mayor's really stepped up and given us a lot of great resources and a lot of great opportunity to bring the Paralympic Games back to Utah so we can watch as a community and we can celebrate all these incredible athletes and these incredible events together as a community on a big screen, but in more than big screens, we also have activities for kids.
We have food trucks and a beer tent and all sorts of really fun activities around it, but the centerpiece is watching the Paralympics together.
- That's incredible, and I love that you've added so many other opportunities for people to hear like exclusive interviews and chats.
You know, that's one thing that can pull people away from just streaming it at home or watching it on their TV.
- Yeah, we really are gonna take advantage of the fact that we'll have most of our Olympians coming back, including over 20 Utah Olympians coming back from the games, and we'll get them on stage and we'll do coaches, chalk talks, and some other interviews and experiences where they'll be able to tell us how great of an Olympics they had.
So really excited about that part of it.
But again, the centerpiece of the content is the celebration of the Paralympic Games, and we'll have our friends from the National Ability Center down there doing activities, and you'll be able to get in and try different things and experience some of these events and some of these sports as a Paralympian, which is really unique.
- And I love that it's so accessible to families.
- 100% complete ADA also accessible.
But yes, we're really concentrating on families.
It's Utah, so we want people to bring their families down and have a great experience for all.
We have street hockey, we have a bunch of other activities and games for kids.
A lot of free giveaways as well.
- Free, well, my ears have perked up.
I'm so excited about this.
Thank you so much for letting us know about this event.
