(upbeat music) - Red Butte Garden & Arboretum's Blooming with Pride event is a joyful celebration of connection, growth, and a day where joy blooms and nature reminds us we all belong.
Youth and family programs manager Jason Alba is here to tell us more.
Hi, Jason, welcome back.
So I'm telling you, the gardens must be looking absolutely gorgeous now, and they'll be at their mid-season peak when this happens in June.
- Yes, for sure.
The gardens are going to be absolutely beautiful when this event happens.
It's going to be amazing to walk through and see all of the beauty up there at Red Butte Garden & Arboretum.
- Yeah.
And I know, I love that you've got a living gallery.
- Yes.
- With local artists.
Okay, explain what that is and how that works.
- Yes, for sure.
Yeah, so we have an amazing art installation that's going to be happening this day.
So we're working with nine local artists that are creating these larger-than-life floral sculptures.
So all of these artists, they're either florists or horticulturists or artists that are creating these living masterpieces, and using flowers and plants and natural materials as their medium.
So there's going to be these huge works of art there to be scattered throughout the entire garden.
- Oh, great.
So you can just walk around and see them all.
Wow.
Okay, that sounds incredible.
But then you've also got something where the community gets to get involved and create something.
- Yeah, definitely.
So part of the fun of this day is we're trying to build community among all sorts of our guests and help form connections with people.
So we have this community art piece where everybody gets to add their own little stamp to the day celebration.
So whether you are adding a note or your own special color to our project, you get to weave in this giant tapestry that is going to form a huge picture by the end of the day that everybody gets to be a part of.
- Wow.
Okay.
So do you bring your own things?
- We will have everything there that people need to accomplish their little artistic approach to our community art piece, so they can just go ahead and fill out what they need to there.
- All right.
It's going to be beautiful.
But I know you've got time to entry.
So how does that work?
- Yeah, definitely.
So you want to jump onto our website and reserve your tickets now, especially if you have a preferred spot that you'd like to come.
We will have tickets available from 12:00 PM all the way to 7:00 PM, so you can jump on there.
Choose your favorite half-hour time slot and come up and visit the garden.
- All right.
Well, thank you so much for doing it, and thank you for being here to tell us about it.
- Thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about Red Butte Garden's upcoming Blooming with Pride event, it's June 13th from noon to 7:00 PM.
