(bright music) - Red Butte Garden and Arboretum's Arbor Day celebration hits the trifecta of freebies.
We're talking free admission, free giveaways, and free family activities.
Here to dig deeper into why you should plant and nurture something this Arbor Day is Lauren Swidnicki.
Thank you so much for being here.
- Yeah, thank you so much for having me.
- And I said it hit the trifecta of freebies, but I heard that people might also be able to take home a free tree?
- Yeah, absolutely.
So we are going to be having so many fun things up at the garden for our Arbor Day celebration.
One of those things is a free tree seedling giveaway.
So after you spend some time up at the garden, learning and celebrating trees, you can take home a tree of your own to plant in your yard or garden.
- Wow, that is incredible.
And I know, like I said, the trifecta of free and that's something that grabs people attention, especially these days.
- Yeah.
- Well, why is it important to offer this celebration at a price everyone can afford?
- Yeah, absolutely.
Trees are such an important part of Red Butte Garden.
A lot of people know us as a garden, but we're also an arboretum.
We have over 2,000 trees up at the garden.
So we just want people to come up, learn about and appreciate and celebrate trees, 'cause they're such an important part of our everyday lives.
- And you were telling me a little bit about the timing of the event and people can enjoy Red Butte as well, even after the activities are done, right?
- Yeah, absolutely.
So the garden will be open from 9:00 AM to 7:30.
It's a free day at the garden, and then we'll have our Arbor Day celebration activities that will go from 10:00 to 2:00 PM.
- What inspires you the most about doing this day, you know, during Arbor Day and also during Earth Day as well?
- Yeah, absolutely.
Well for me, trees just such a calming presence to my life.
They always ground me and kind of remind me of what's important.
So it's just really such a special time to connect people with that same idea.
- Yeah, that I say that a lot about Red Butte, like it's my zen space, where there's just so much peace there and so much fun.
- Yes, absolutely.
- If you would like to check out this event, it is Arbor Day, the celebration at Red Butte Garden and Arboretorium, or Arboretum, excuse me.
That is April 24th, 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
