(upbeat music) - UTA's My BeUTAHful Community Youth Art Competition gives students K through 12 the opportunity to express themselves through public art, and make public transportation a better place to be.
And here to tell us more, is Ivana Holiday.
Hi, Ivana, welcome.
Good to have you here.
So this is a really fun competition you do to get students being creative, so, when can they submit their art, and what kind of art are you looking for?
- Yeah, so our competition opens February 10th to March 24th, 2025, and the type of artwork that we are looking for is 2D artwork.
So that includes, like, painting, drawing, if they wanna do any, like, design work on a digital platform, and submit it as 2D work, that's great, that works for us.
And we do have an online submission that they're able to fill out and submit their artwork.
- Okay, so it makes it easy, and I know you probably get some really, really interesting things.
- Yeah, we always get, like, colorful artwork, whether that's, like, landscape, or whether that's pictures of their friends, drawings of, like, their house, their family members, animals, and things like that.
- So it's, you want them to celebrate life and community, which is great.
- Yeah, that's what we envision with our theme, "We Move CommYOUnity - Exploring the World Around You."
We want them to celebrate, and also be inspired by UTA, and how we connect them to their community, and how public transportation impacts that connection.
- Ah, that's great!
Okay, and I think the really wonderful thing you do, you have these on display!
So, where will people see them, and how long will they be there?
- Yeah, so we will have a lot of the winning artwork displayed on bus stop shelters across the Wasatch Front.
We, ideally, will have this up for as long as they can be on the shelters.
- Alright.
Well, great.
Well, it's a really great thing you do, and thank you for highlighting young artists, thanks.
