(upbeat music) - If you find yourself in Moab in August, you might be lucky enough to catch the Moab Art Walk.
Kelly McInerney joins us to share the art, how the art community is gearing up for a free evening of connection.
Welcome, Kelly.
- Hi, Liz.
Thank you for having me.
- So tell me about how this event, the art walk, kind of sparks creativity in everyone who participates.
- So it's a really fun evening where you can come out and walk around to different downtown galleries and businesses, chat with artists and your neighbors and get to explore kind of things you haven't seen before and maybe discover that your neighbor has a secret talent for ceramics or painting.
- [Liz] I love that.
And what are some of the participating locations?
Who's going to be involved?
- So we'll have our building, which is the Moab Art Center.
The Grand County Library will also be participating.
The Moab Museum, a local community co-op called Moonflower, the Summit Sotheby's Real Estate Office, Gallery Moab, and a local store called The Press.
- And I love how there is also an interactive aspect to this as very often it's do not touch the art, but you guys are handing out postcards so people can be really a part of this experience.
Can you explain how that works?
- Yeah, we love doing interactive elements.
It helps you kind of spark your own creativity.
It's something that you can bring your kids to.
So even if there is artwork on the walls that you can't touch, we always try to have some sort of craft or postcard that you can color and paint and you can be involved.
- And with those postcards, I hear that people can get like stamps and be entered into prizes at the end?
- Yeah so if you make it to all of the locations or almost all of them, because there are quite a few, enter you into a drawing and you can either win an art print or sometimes it's tickets to the museum or a free art class.
- I love that.
So much fun.
So many things to check out, and so many offerings there, if you would like to learn more about this event, thank you so much for joining us, if you would like to learn more about this event, it is the Moab Art Walk August 7th, 5:00 to 8:00 PM in downtown Moab.
