(bright music) - From nationally recognized artists to community events, documentary screenings, and more, the Center for the Arts at Kayenta provides diverse cultural experiences, and Miranda Wright is here to tell us all about them.
Welcome, Miranda.
- Thank you.
I'm happy to be here.
- I hear that you guys put on at least 50 events every year.
Is that true?
- We do around 50 events annually, and they range from theater to dance, live music, outdoor events, art festivals.
We do a little bit of everything.
- [Liz] So what can people expect this fall?
- This fall, we have some really exciting stuff coming up.
Our Art In Kayenta Festival is October 9th through 11th, and it's probably one of our most popular events.
It's been going on for over 25 years.
We have around 50 artists from across the Southwest coming with their fine art.
We have live music in a courtyard, a beer and wine garden, and food trucks.
It's a great weekend to come visit our area.
- [Liz] Wow.
And people can see performances as well, is that correct?
- We have live music during that event.
And then in November, we have Stephanie Garcia, who's actually a Salt Lake City-based choreographer coming down with her dance company to perform a fantastic piece about immigration and borders.
That will be November 20th and 21st.
- [Liz] What do you think attracts the crowds year after year?
- I like to think that they are crowds who appreciate the arts, but also a little bit of an adventure.
They come to see something new, something that's not readily available in the southwest part of Utah.
And of course the landscapes.
The landscapes are gorgeous and we try to pair our programming with the landscape that we're blessed with.
- And for the most part, the weather can be pretty great as well, right?
For outdoor events.
- Pretty good weather, except monsoon season, which is hard to pin down.
So we do our best.
- What's something that you're looking forward to the most this fall season?
- I'm really looking forward to seeing things outdoors.
So having the opportunity to walk around and see performance as well as visual art within the landscape of the Red Rocks down there.
Also to experience the Southern Utah's growing food and wine businesses.
- Yeah.
It's definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.
Thank you so much for stopping by to share all of this information.
