(upbeat music) - Esencia De Mexico brings Mexican culture to the stage through dynamic dance, colorful costumes and rich musical storytelling.
Here to tell us more are Karla Shawhan and Flor Ambario.
Thank you so much for joining us.
- Happy to.
- Thank you for having us.
- So tell me more about this celebration.
- So this celebration is meant to highlight culture, family, and bring the community together, especially in a community like Park City where we don't have a lot of those resources available to us.
And so we wanted to make sure that we brought Esencia de Mexico to help us push that forward.
- And tell me, what are some of the things that people are going to be able to experience when they come out to the event?
- When they come out to the event, you'll be able to experience the live music of Mariachi with colorful, vibrant, Folklorico dresses from various regions of Mexico.
- And access is so important when you're putting on a community-minded event.
You are making ways for people to be able to get tickets in an easy way, right?
- Absolutely, so we have tickets available for military folks, senior tickets, and $5 student tickets as well.
And if you are a student in Latinos in Action, we would love to host you if you just let us know at the box office.
- Why is it important to include that student outreach in this program?
- I believe it is important to teach our youth what it is like to grow up with culture, especially in a place that is a little bit difficult to find, as well as being able to connect.
Specifically with the student outreach, we will be doing it at a dual language immersion school.
So connecting that mind and body is very important for us.
- And what is your favorite aspect of this project?
- I think it's seeing the dancers come together and uniting as one and just helping each other through the process of learning everything.
- That's amazing.
Well, I'm so happy that you guys are putting this on and offering it for the community.
And I know our audience would like to get some more information about this, so check out the screen if you would like to participate or attend Ensencia de Mexico and Mariachi Guzman.
It's happening March 27th from seven to 9:00 PM at the Eccles Center for Performing Arts in Park City.
And if you'd like to learn more information about how to get tickets, how to share this information, just head to showpass.com/esencia-de-mexico.
I'm Liz Adeola, and thank you so much for watching Contact.
