(upbeat music) - Good Company Theatre is presenting the Utah premiere of the dark comedy "Coach Coach."
Alicia Washington and Kelsie Jepsen are here to tell us all about it.
Hi, ladies, thank you for being here.
Okay, Alicia, let's start with you.
So tell us a bit about the theatre and your role with this production.
- Well, thank you.
Good Company Theatre is located in Ogden, and we're the only independent producing theatre company in Ogden.
We're in our 12th season, and we decided to shake things up a bit and produce Bailey Williams' dark comedy "Coach Coach" that's all about who can be the ultimate wellness coach.
- (laughs) All right.
Okay, and you are in this, Kelsie.
- I am.
- So tell us who you play.
What coach do you play?
- Yeah, so my name is Ann in the play, and I'm a love and dating coach.
And the reason for the title is that it's these different wellness coaches that have different specialties that are going to a retreat to be coach.
So it's the coach coach.
- Okay, and you're really a coach in real life.
- I am.
I teach body-acceptance workshops, so this really tickled my funny bone when I was offered this because I know all about how toxic the wellness and life coaches can be.
- How toxic.
See, that's pretty amusing, yeah.
- It can be.
- Yeah, okay, so tell us a little more about the play because I know the playwright said it's a little bit like "Mousetrap" and "Clue."
- Yeah, so there's a very heightened sense to this.
I mean, we're really leaning into the comedy of MLMs and that hierarchy of like the ego around wanting to be this really important coach, you know, life coach, love and dating coach.
And so I would say like some of our inspiration, the old movie "Soapdish," where it's just like those soap operas where it's kind of over the top, and it's really fun.
- All right, I bet you have a ball, but it's dark.
So, thanks so much for being here, both of you, and I hope you get good attendance.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about that upcoming production of Good Company Theatre's "Coach Coach" April 3rd to 20th, it's at Good Company Theatre in Ogden.
