(upbeat music) - Girl Scouts of Utah's "Camping with a Cause" is for women ages 21 plus and help support outdoor programs by giving girls in Utah the opportunity to experience the power of outdoor adventure.
And here with all the details, development manager Jamie Usry.
- Hello - Jamie.
Welcome.
Okay, so this camp looks really fun.
- It's a lot of fun.
So this is our 23rd year putting on Camping for a Cause.
And it is, as you said, a women only 21 plus event.
The purpose of camping for a cause is raising money for the girls.
For our Campership program, which is our camp scholarships fund.
There are a lot of girls out there that really need the opportunity to go to camp and their families cannot afford it.
So we raise money for that fund.
We also raise money for the camp, which is Camp Cloud Rim, and it's just a great event.
It's two nights in August, August 8th and 9th, and you get to show up, have a great cater dinner, live program, silent auction, dance party, movie under the stars.
We're showing "Moon Struck" this year.
- [Mary] All right.
- [Jamie] Camp in one of our cabins are tents and then wake up the next morning and do a bunch of Girl Scout activities.
- Ah, it sounds really fun.
I mean truly.
And, okay, where's Camp Cloud Rim - Camp Cloud Rim we've had it for about a hundred years.
It is at 9,200 feet above Park City.
So think Guardsman Pass, beautiful private lake, lake Brimhall, our lodge, our cabins.
Even if you're in a tent, you just can't beat it.
It's gorgeous.
- Oh wow.
Okay.
And And can you still secure tickets?
Does it sell out?
- You can.
We're hoping to sell out.
Tickets are on sale through the end of July.
I would hope we're sold out by mid-July, so get on there soon and buy, ticket options are a single ticket or you can purchase a whole tent or a whole cabin.
And a cabin is for eight people.
A tent is for four people.
- Okay.
Wow, this is great.
And as you said, it helps girls who can't afford camp go to camp.
- It does.
You know, unfortunately, I would say that population of girls is growing, the girls that need that financial assistance.
And so the amount of money that we need to have in our Campership fund to be able to send girls to camp, it changes their life.
They make lifelong friends.
It's just an amazing opportunity.
- Wonderful, well great thing you're doing and thanks for being here.
- Thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about the Girls Scout "Camping with a Cause," registration is open, it's August 8 through 9th, women over 21 only.
