(upbeat music) - Thanksgiving Point brings Curious George to life with the Curiosity Circus.
A high-energy STEM-inspired day from juggling and tightrope walking to carousel and magic.
Kids can even discover the science behind circus acts.
Here to tell us more is Sonya Darter.
Welcome, Sonya, you brought the fun to "Contact".
- I did.
We're so excited that the circus is coming to town, and we have a lot of activities including a circus school that will teach children how to juggle and balance things like peacock feathers, hula hoop, and all of the physics behind it.
- Wow.
And is it easy to teach kids how to do that?
How do you balance a feather?
- There are definitely some tips that make it a little easier.
So once it's in your hand, this kind of looks like an eye.
- Yeah.
- So easy to remember.
Keep your eye on the eye.
And once it's in your hand, let it go.
Try to keep your hand, (Liz laughs) You see the angle it goes?
- Yeah.
(Sonya chuckles) It wants to go its own way.
- It does, it does.
But there's ways, and it's fun to practice.
You know, move your hand, not your feet.
So that all makes it easier.
- So exciting.
And I hear that there's also a Curious George exhibit.
- There is.
It is 3,000 square feet about Curious George.
It's different activities like construction building, you can create light patterns, measure fruit and veg in the kitchen.
So it's like walking into a Curious George storybook.
- Wow.
And I hear that PBS Utah KIDS is also gonna be there- - Yes.
- our education department.
- Yes.
And we're so excited they'll be there, reading books and doing activities with it and just making the event even that much better.
- I love that, you know, with the Curious George theme, you guys are bringing together learning, a beloved character, fun, but also the education aspect, like I said, learning.
- Yes.
It's a lot like Curious George is.
He loves discovering, he loves curiosity, ask questions.
He's a little mischievous, but it's just a representative of all of his stories and his personality.
- I love that.
Well, thank you so much for teaching me how to kind of balance feather.
(chuckles) I appreciate it.
