(upbeat music) - Craft Lake City and Midvale City are holding a free DIY mural workshop with local artists and a hands-on mural design activity.
Max Bennion and Marcus Stevenson are here to tell us all about it.
Hi, both.
Thanks for being here.
So, Marcus is the representative of Midvale City.
I'll start with you.
Talk about the partnership with Craft Lake City and why you're doing this.
- Yeah, well, first of all, thanks for having us.
So on June 10th of this year, we have Midvale's second annual Mural Festival, Los Muros on Main.
And as we do this, as we bring art down to our historic Main Street, we're really looking at how do we give back to this art community?
How do we make sure that this is a place where artists feel welcome, that it's really supporting them?
And so that's when our partnership started with Craft Lake City on doing this workshop so we can help up and coming artists increase their skills even more.
- Oh, that's great.
And Max from Craft Lake City, okay.
Talk to us about the workshop.
- Absolutely.
- And who's gonna be teaching?
- Absolutely.
So this will be a free workshop on June 7th at the Art House in Midvale.
And basically it's going to be taught by three very talented local mural artists: Jasmine Martinez, Carol Nelson, and Brooke Smart.
All very talented.
They will be giving a presentation, talking about tips and tricks for painting murals, both indoor and outdoor, followed by a hands-on mural design activity, where attendees will get to kind of come up with a design and receive feedback from the artists.
- All right.
And so what happens with these designs?
Do they go on on your walls on Main Street, Marcus?
- I don't- - Not quite.
So the Mural Festival will have their own artists doing their own murals, but this is a great opportunity for those interested, whether that's business owners or just someone who wants a great piece of art in their home or outside of their home or their business to learn about it from people who are very talented and very experienced in these murals.
- I will say that even though their art won't be on our walls this year, we really are in Midvale.
We're looking for how do we bring in really experienced artists and also how do we help, again, artists grow those talents.
So that's what, hopefully we can see them in the future.
- Great, great.
Well, thank you so much for being here.
It sounds like a lot of fun, thanks.
- Thank you.
- Great, thank you.
