(upbeat music) - Children's Dance Theatre is presenting The Journey, a story of a young traveler on her adventure of becoming and creating.
Our guests today, Mary Ann Lee and Mary Martha Ostler, are here to tell us more about the performance.
Welcome both, hi.
- [Both] How are you?
- So Mary Ann, another exciting show coming up for you.
- Yes, a brand new show.
We're going to premiere at the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre March 21st and 22nd.
A beautiful new show with 200 dancers, live music, new costumes and I'd like you to know Mary Martha Ostler.
She is the choreographer of the narration and wrote the story this year.
- All right.
So Mary-Martha, tell us about the story and choreographing.
- Awesome, okay.
So this story follows a young traveler who embarks on a journey, a journey of becoming and along that path, she meets three very whimsical characters who are larger than life, who teach her lessons and give her puzzle pieces that, in the end, she uses to create something she didn't even know that she was capable of creating and the thing that's so fun is I think it's a relatable piece for all of us, as we're all on our own journey of becoming and you're gonna hear incredible, original music, original choreography and you might even just get a little touch and taste of magic.
- Magic.
Look at you.
The lighting thumbs.
(all laugh) - I think these are the guides who are magic, is that correct?
- Yes, the guides are magic, yes.
- The guides.
So, okay, if we only all had guides with magic and light-up thumbs.
(all laugh) - That would be wonderful.
- Yeah, so and what's it like working with that many kids on stage?
- You know, it's pretty humbling.
They are hard workers.
They are incredible creatives and I think one of the special things about Tanner Dance is we believe every child is an artist and has that innate ability to create within them.
- Wonderful.
Well, thanks so much for being here, both of you.
Thank you.
- Thank you.
- Thank you, Mary.
- And if you'd like to know more about that upcoming children's Dance Theatre, The Journey, it's March 21st at 7:30 and March 22nd at 2PM at the Capitol Theatre.
