(upbeat music) - "The Hinckley Report" is a weekly political affairs program from PBS Utah, in collaboration with the Hinckley Institute of Politics, offering insight into the latest political development.
And here today, we're celebrating the 10th anniversary with host, Jason Perry.
Hi, Jason, I can't believe it's been 10 years you've been doing this already.
- I can't believe it either.
This is almost a blink of an eye.
- I know.
- When we started this, we wondered, will people watch?
Will there be enough content?
Oh my, 10 years' worth of really amazing stories.
- Boy, no kidding.
And will there be enough content?
Talking about that, there is so much going on.
How do you decide what to cover every week?
- Well, it's hard.
When we started the show, we were thinking, is this something we can keep going all through the summer?
Now, that's what people talk to us about is maybe this should be a year-long endeavor.
But we certainly have enough material for it.
But we try to make sure a couple things, what are the big issues really that are happening in the state of Utah.
On the national side, is it impacting us, and we really get guests that are really plugged into what's happening right now.
So we really put those two things together, the big stories and the people who are part of it.
- Yeah, and what are some of the Utah stories that you've been covering?
- Well, so many interesting things.
Right now, it's all about redistricting.
- [Mary] Yeah.
- New congressional maps.
Our legislature has been working through the courts, through lawsuits, a proposition that has been put forward.
So interesting to see the various maneuvers there, and it has the potential of shaping our congressional district and our representation in Congress.
This is an example of the many interesting things that are going on right now.
- Yeah, I know, and I want you to touch on some of the other local things going on that you're talking about, and especially as they relate to what's happening on the national level.
- Yeah, we are so impacted by what happens.
This past two weeks, we've been certainly put into the national spotlight when it comes to things like security and political violence, and how do we really find the balance of making sure we have people coming to campuses.
We hear alternative voices while you're balancing security.
It's a very interesting thing we're gonna watch closely.
- Yeah, and all of our viewers should be watching closely too for you.
- Thank you.
- So thanks for being here.
- Thank you.
